My 2015 Book List♡

I've created a short list of all the books I am dying to read this year. I'm hoping to be able to sit down with a book more and take a break from social media, netflix, and games for a bit. Sometimes it's good not to be staring at a screen... well, if you don't count your Kindle.

1. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

2. The Maze Runner by James Dashner

3. All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

4. My Sister's Grave by Robert Dugoni

5. Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

What's some of your books you plan on reading this year? Did any of mine make your list?
Have an awesome day! Until next time guys. :)

10 Favorite Things About Winter♡

One of my favorite things about winter time is the laid back, laziness of the season. Yes, I love Christmas too but there's much more to it. I'm able to get away with being closed up indoors a lot easier when it's freezing outside. So here are some of my favorite things about winter.

S l e e p i n g . You can ask my husband and he will tell you that I go to bed early just because I am that excited to go to sleep. I might miss out on late night things, but I'd rather be curled up in bed with my dog any day. Especially when our house is normally on the chillier side, I can stay in that warm bed all morning!

R e a d i n g . This is the time of year when I really get some reading done. Oh how I wish we had a fire place in our house! Although I might not get anything accomplished if we did!

E a t i n g . There's no doubt that some of the best food your family cooks is around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Eggnog also comes out along with Christmas popcorn in those huge buckets... oh and mini reeses. Lots of mini reeses.

B u n d l e d . Okay, now's the time I can totally get away with a big baggy sweatshirt. All of my cute clothes are winter. Adding a scarf and a hat easily makes your outfit more fashionable without trying too hard. Also, boots. Warm winter boots are a favorite!

M a k e u p . I really prefer darker makeup. Smokey eyes and a berry lip just screams that it's cold out. It's also a good reason to buy that dark lipstick even though you buy one every year. I've been loving a dark purple lip this season!

T e l e v i s i o n . Yes, now's the time to stay cuddled up on the couch and watch endless shows on Netflix and Hulu. Since it's gotten cold out, we've been watching Sons of Anarchy almost every evening. Can not get enough of that show!

S n o w . Obviously, but being as I'm from Texas we don't get to see it every year. Ever since I've moved up north, it's every year, multiple times! I don't like to venture out in it, but I prefer to look at it from inside my nice warm house while I drink a warm beverage.

D e c o r a t i o n s . Winter has the best decorations. We never decorate our towns as much as we deck them up for the holidays! Businesses and houses are covered in lights and I love to drive around at night and look at them all. We got our first lights for our house this year, can't wait to add more to our collection!

S h o p p i n g . Um, my wallet is already a lot thinner than I planned! I have a love/hate relationship for what this season influences me to purchase. They DO have a few good deals if you beat everyone to them, but I prefer to do a lot of online shopping. Staying in and shopping online when it's cold outside is so lovely!

T i m e . Is it just me or does the end of the year kinda slow down a bit? When it gets colder out, I feel as though time slows down a bit. The days are longer and I seem to be able to get a few more things accomplished.

There are my ten favorite things about the Winter! It's definitely my favorite time of the year. What's something you like about Winter? Until next time guys! xx

Five Things I've Learned In 2014♡

Don't Hold Grudges
I am the worst when it comes to holding grudges. I will fume over it forever and constantly think about something bad someone has done to me. I finally, after years and years, let go of a lot of things. They were all holding me back, keeping me from being happy. "Let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy."

Learn To Forgive
This goes a lot with not holding grudges, but I feel like it's different. Truly forgiving someone is one of the hardest, but best things you can do for yourself. No one is perfect and I'm definitely no different. There's a lot of things I've done I wish people would forgive, and I hope they have. "Remember, when you forgive, you heal. When you let go, you grow."

Be Kind
A lot of the times I was mean, I had a little voice in my head saying don't do that! Don't say that! So often I wish people were kinder and I wasn't holding up my end. It's so easy to jump in and agree with friends when it comes to gossip and drama. Not being apart of it will make your life so much easier. You'll also feel a lot better about yourself when you don't feel the need to bring down others. "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind. Always."

Take Risks
I don't know why people are so scared of doing something they've always wanted to do. I was so scared about making my own blog, but even in these last six months I've been doing it, I have only made myself happier by doing something I've always wanted to do. I'm going to keep trying to take risks and follow my dreams. "Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will."

Live Your Life
I was constantly worried about making everyone happy. Doing what they expect me to do. Feeling guilty for marrying young, moving away from my family, and not going to that college they always wanted me to go to. But why live your life for others? They have their own and you have yours. At the end of the day it's your own happiness that matters the most. Follow YOUR dream and not others. Don't feel guilty for being who you really are. "The less you care, the happier you will be."

There's five things I've learned in 2014. This year I did a lot of growing up. I honestly don't know why this year I decided to change for the better. (At least try to) I just know I've needed it for a long time. This year was a big eye opener for me and I hope I can grow and learn more next year as well.
I'll just keep trying my best. Happy New Years everyone.

Homesick Remedies♡

Hey guys! I thought I'd give a few tips on how to get over being homesick. Moving twenty-eight hours away from my family and friends has been one of the hardest things I've had to do, but also very rewarding. I can speak from experience that moving away from your loved ones really grows you as a person and makes you, in my case, really grow up fast. You won't be depending on anyone anymore and it can be very scary to think about, but here's some tips I used to cope.

Find hobbies. Remember how you've always been meaning to pick up sewing? Or how about getting back into your old hobbies? I know I've picked up sketching again!

Take a walk, explore. The best way to get used to a new area is to explore. Make the new, the familiar. Go out and see new sites and make sure to know what's out there.

Make new friends. This is probably the hardest for me to do. You really have to put yourself out there to meet people. Especially if you're like me and moved somewhere where you didn't know anyone.

Call, stay connected to your loved ones. Thank goodness we don't live in the stone age anymore. Make use of your phone and other social sites to stay connected back home. I'm guilty of calling my mom once a day. Even if it's for a few short minutes!

Make your new home cozy. For a while we just had a big, empty house. It felt cold, unfamiliar and scary at times. Once we started adding a few things here and there, it became ours. Having a few familiar items from back home helps too.

Read a book or get into a new tv series. I have a goal where I finish at least one new book a month since I've been living here. I also have gotten into a lot of tv series! It's good 'me' time.

Keep a good mindset. Try your best not to focus on missing home, being lonely. Keep a positive outlook and keep going. I try to always focus on the good, the positive.

Stay busy! This is probably one of the most important things to keep from being homesick. Keeping busy will help you get used to your new home quicker. Staying busy to me, makes me a lot happier.

Being An Introvert♡

A lot of the time people think being an introvert is just someone who is shy, but in fact, that's not always the case and has little to do with actually being an introvert. Don't get me wrong, I'm a bit, okay a lot, shy when it comes to meeting new people.

So what exactly does it mean to be introverted? Well, there's a few things that you could do that puts you in that category. My biggest one is to not really wanting to socialize unless it's with a small group of close friends. Even then, I tend to always be exhausted and need to 'recharge' after hanging out. I also need to know ahead of time before hanging out so I can 'prepare' myself for the energy I'll be spending. Sounds crazy right? Well, if you are like this, you're not the only one!

Before I even found out about this, I kept asking myself, 'what's wrong with me?' I'd get so upset, to the point of tears, because I hated myself for not always wanting to hangout with a lot of people I cared about. Not to mention, I never knew exactly how to explain myself when it comes to needing time to myself for a while. Without sounding rude.

Introverts prefer solitary to social environments. Doing activities that let you explore your own personal thoughts. Like reading, doing art, even going hiking. Having that time to yourself is okay. It doesn't mean your depressed. Or anti-social. It just means that you need some time to yourself before a lot of socializing.

So here's some of my tips!

Take time to yourself. No, not everyone will understand even when you try to explain why you need it, but do what you have to do to feel comfortable and at ease.

Enjoy your small group of friends. Less is indeed, more. If you're feeling like you can do it, don't be afraid to go enjoy your hangouts with your close friends. If they're really you're true friends, they should understand and know that you still care even if it means not hanging out 24/7.

Not going to big gatherings is okay. Don't listen to people who are telling you you're missing out on life by not going to the latest parties. If you prefer to stay home on the weekends watching Netflix and laying around in your pj's, then go for it. You're really not missing out on too much, and who cares as long as that's what makes you happy?

Sometimes you need to push yourself. Not saying you should have to do this all the time, but making memories outside your comfort zone can sometimes be worthwhile. I wouldn't have enjoyed my senior year of high school near as much if I didn't.

Don't hate yourself for it. This was one of the hardest things for me, not understanding why I was like this. A lot of people have the same thing and it's not really as big of an issue as long as you take the time for yourself. Be happy with who you are.

Are you an introvert or extravert?
Until next time friends~
